COLORS FOR HEART
ABOUT US
Here at Colors for Heart, our mission is to use art to make an impact in our community. Through research and by interviewing art therapists, we have many basic activities that are both relaxing and enjoyable. Founded in 2019, our goal is to spread the use of colors into the community to heal the heart. We make regular visits to hospitals and memory care homes and arrange various art activities to give them an enjoyable and mood-lifting experience.
Art has proven to be relaxing and an enjoyable activity because it provides a non-verbal outlet for individuals, their world, and the environment, making them feel relieved. It allows individuals to focus on the present moment and create connections between emotions and the body. However, along with being calming and enjoyable, art has been found to have many health benefits. Starting with mental health, a study on the “Efficacy of Art Therapy” published by the American Art Therapy Association showed that the majority of patients that suffer from anxiety and depression have experienced a reduction in traumatic experiences and experienced improved moods through art. The non-verbal outlet that art gives patients can also make them feel relieved. Once the emotions are externalized, they can be easier to talk about. This understanding of emotions can help in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as cancer. Scientists have also found that art has the ability to change brain wave patterns which can alter neural connections and hormones.
We hope to make an impact on peoples’ lives through their mental and physical well being. We can help people of all age ranges, so we plan to visit as many places as possible from children’s hospitals to senior care homes. Our activities have a large variety, and we try our best to gove everyone and anyone an option for a fun activity suited to their needs.
"Use your creativity to tap into your innate power for growth and healing."
